There is one thing to note that if you become an Oil baron and have tons of oil you will get tons of people trading with you and end up with tons of free factories (usually you make what you need and then take land have a bunch of extra oil you can trade. Oil plants pay off the most if you need a ton of oil and tires but are less effecient if you need just one of those resources. So there is a diminishing return on building more civilian factories. You would be stuck with 9 factories to get that much oil and 5 to get 40 tires.įinally be aware that having more factories means you have to use more factories for consumer goods (read as these are dead and produce nothing). Let's say you traded for all those resources instead of building 10 plants. Over time Oil plants do pay for themselves (especially if you get the infrastructure guy to speed them up 10% and build them in high infrastructure areas). If you trade for oil be aware that factory is more or less 'dead'. you can get more if you are sneaky and play with the DoD expansion). Before starting WWII you should own France or Poland along with Czech, Yugo and Austria as well as the occasional greece puppet. But be aware as Germany you can absolutely afford to build them. *Oil Plant note- look at the cost to build this guy and realize that it is expensive. This is something you can work on slowly for several years and have some good ships by 1941 and if you are just fast enough you can take the UK out before Russia invades before the USA gets in the war. Why? It will finish his navy faster than planes alone. If you want to invade the UK you will need a navy. My suggestion is to trade for just enough oil to fill your non navy production. but look at people with thousands of hours and they will tell you never scrap ships (apparently you dont lose MP when they sink). What if you want to kill France first before doing anything first? Build more military factories. Poland crumbles in about 2 weeks or less.

(if you have never done this attack from the north with 1 full division, attack from the west below the 'river line' with a full division and have about 10 infantry hold the north river line on the west. On that note a very easy and powerful opening is to start the game by declaring war on Poland as soon as possible. You have time to make at least 10 before fighting france in 39 and not really sacrifice anything (assuming you smash poland asap). And before someone comes along and yells that Oil plants are bad they are better than not having oil because your convoys keep getting sunk. I would advise not filling them up completely. I don't think you can go wrong with 10 civilian factories (build them in higher infrastructure areas first).
